Definition
Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in preventive maintenance and repair on standard office equipment and performing related work as required.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Repairs and maintains a preventive maintenance program on office equipment such as typewriters, duplicators, transcribing and dictating units and calculators.
Researches and maintains a library on parts and engineering changes.
Orders parts and maintains parts inventory.
Writes work orders and keeps history records of service required.
Orders typewriters and installs as required.
Performs other work as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of procedures and practices involved in repairing office machinery.
Knowledge of the equipment, machinery, tools, and materials used in repairing equipment.
Knowledge of basic electronics.
Ability to perform repairs and preventive maintenance work on office machinery.
Ability to evaluate situations and make decisions.
Ability to use equipment, machinery and tools involved in repairing office machinery.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees.
Recommended Qualifications
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Graduation from a standard high school. Completion of a course of study involving mechanical and basic electronic courses at a trade or technical school. Experience in small mechanical equipment repair.
