Definition
Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in patrolling assigned parking areas to ensure that rules and regulations are adhered to and performing related work as required.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Issues tickets to parking lot violators.
Patrols parking lot to prevent and detect theft and vandalism.
Assists people with their parking.
Controls traffic and supervises the parking lot facility checking each car to ensure use of the proper lot sticker.
Aids pedestrians crossing streets.
Operates traffic scooter in performance of duties.
Gives directions to people wishing to find various buildings and locations on the campus.
Keeps records and makes reports.
Performs other work as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of campus parking rules and regulations.
Knowledge of the geographic area of the campus.
Ability to explain pertinent parking rules and regulations.
Ability to enforce parking rules and regulations tactfully and firmly.
Ability to operate traffic scooter in performance of duties.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the students, the public and other employees.
Recommended Qualifications
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Graduation from a standard high school. Possession of a valid Tennessee operator's license as issued by the Tennessee Department of Safety.
