Definition
Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in providing assistance for and instruction in the various programs and services offered by County Agricultural Extension Service and performing related work as required.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Organizes and meets with 4-H Clubs in area schools on a regular schedule.
Participates in staff conferences and evaluation and planning meetings.
Plans and conducts a home training program for homemakers involving home management.
Makes assignments according to homemaker's ability and needs.
Instructs individuals or groups in the methods and techniques of family budgeting, clothing (including construction, alteration and repairs), food and nutrition (including meal preparation, meal planning, and food preserving), interior design, and child care.
Operates motor vehicle in performance of duties.
Performs other work as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of the methods and practices followed in a sound home economics program.
Knowledge of methods and techniques required for personal hygiene and cleanliness.
Knowledge of instructional methods, materials and programs.
Ability to operate machines and appliances used in homemaking.
Ability to make minor decisions in accordance with established procedures.
Ability to understand oral and written instructions.
Ability to operate motor vehicle.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with clients, the public, and other employees.
Recommended Qualifications
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. High School graduate or equivalent.
