Definition
Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in coordinating with Computer Services to maintain and revise a computer generated accounting system. Performs other duties as assigned.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinates with Computer Services to maintain and revise a computer accounting system.
Communicates needs to computer systems analysts.
Recommends changes in format or data input/output.
Supplies purchasing with information sufficient to locate and procure parts.
Confers with salesmen from suppliers; shops vendors to obtain the best prices and quality.
Acts as supply clerk working counter or maintaining warehouse stock as necessary.
Dispatches supply drivers.
Verifies various forms for accuracy and initiates corrections.
Trains others to input data and interpret outputs.
Acts as supply supervisor during absence of regular supervisor.
Performs annual physical inventory.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Ability to work with numbers and other numerical operations.
Administrative and supervisory ability.
Knowledge of stock inventory methods and procedures.
Ability to maintain and verify computer printouts and programs.
Ability to express oneself orally.
Knowledge of techniques in ordering and maintaining supplies.
Ability to attend to details.
Ability to type.
Recommended Qualifications
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. High school graduate or equivalent; one year experience involving receiving, storing, and inventory control; valid driver's license; typing ability required. Six months experience with computerized inventory system preferred.
