Definition
Employees in this class are under close supervision. Work performed in maintaining swimming pool and pool area and performing related work as required.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Checks Ph level of pool water and adds chemicals in prescribed amounts to ensure water purification.
Cleans pool deck.
Cleans bottom and sides of pool using such aids as underwater vacuum cleaner, hose, brush, detergent and cleaners.
Cleans and backwashes filters.
Scrubs men's and women's locker room floors and cleans sinks, commodes and urinals.
Cleans mildew with power washer.
Maintains proper water level in pool.
Performs other work as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of materials and methods used in swimming pool cleaning and maintenance.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
Ability to use tools and equipment required in the cleaning and routine maintenance of a swimming pool and related areas and equipment especially as they relate to the use of chlorine.
Ability to measure proper pH and to add chemicals as required.
Ability to work around water.
Ability to follow oral instructions.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees.

Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Successful completion of the tenth grade.
