Definition
Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in swimming pool maintenance. Performs other duties as assigned.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Maintains chemical purity of pool water.
Sets, adjusts, and tests control and monitoring instruments.
Plans and schedules pool maintenance programs.
Maintains adequate supplies of chemicals and pool supplies.
Implements and maintains preventive maintenance program.
Uses tools and equipment necessary to pool maintenance.
Trains and supervises employees in proper pool maintenance and repair.
May oversee, direct, or check work of lower level custodial workers, temporary employees or student workers.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Ability to train and supervise.
Knowledge of chemicals and chemical levels.
Knowledge of chemical safety.
Ability to provide preventive maintenance.
Knowledge of equipment, tools, and materials common to pool maintenance.
Ability to read blueprints.
Administrative ability.
Recommended Qualifications
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. High school graduate or equivalent, two years experience in swimming pool maintenance and/or equivalent training, including knowledge of chemicals and chemical safety.
