A decade ago, East Tennessee State University didn’t have a marching band. Now, ETSU’s “Marching Bucs” is one of the largest collegiate bands in the nation and will perform in the 2024 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The Marching Bucs performed "Jump in the Line" as they marched in the 2024 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

For their dazzling performance in Herald Square, the Marching Bucs performed "Happy Together."

The Marching Bucs also performed "Over the River and Through the Woods" as they marched through the streets of New York.

A Comeback Story

No uniforms. No instruments. No instructors. No band members. That is the situation Dr. Joe Moore faced when ETSU President Dr. Brian Noland hired him in 2014 to fulfill the community’s vision of bringing back the Marching Bucs. Now more than 360 members strong, the Marching Bucs are one of the largest marching bands in the nation and will perform in the 2024 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

A Spectacular Color Guard

Jocelyn's Story

As if marching in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade weren't enough, the Marching Bucs Color Guard and Majorettes have been chosen to open the iconic Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes® presented by QVC.

A Family Tradition

Mattie's Story

Mattie is the third member of her family to march in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. It's safe to say, the music is in her blood.
