Big Train Show
JOHNSON CITY (May 24, 2018) – The George L. Carter Railroad Museum at East Tennessee State University will host its third annual Big Train Show on Friday and Saturday, June 1-2, in the ETSU/Mountain States Health Alliance Athletic Center (the Mini-Dome).
Utilizing more than 64,000 square feet of display space, the largest train show in the region will feature over 50 vendors displaying railroad and model railroad items on more than 200 tables. In addition, there will be six model train layouts in multiple scales and live operating steam locomotives. Food will also be available for purchase.
Train Show hours are Friday, June 1 from noon to 6 p.m. and Saturday, June 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $6 per day and children under 12 are admitted free. Patrons may access free parking in the adjacent ETSU parking garage on the corner of State of Franklin Road and Jack Vest Drive. A shuttle service will be available to take Blue Plum Festival attendees to the Big Train Show.
Shuttle information will be available at the Carter Railroad Museum booth at the festival. A limited number of free conductor hats for children will be distributed at the train show and the Blue Plum Festival.
The Carter Railroad Museum will be open to the public both days from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. featuring model railroad layouts in three scales and four gauges. Located in the ETSU Campus Center Building at 176 Ross Drive, the museum can be identified by a flashing railroad-crossing signal at the back entrance to the Campus Center Building. Admission is free.
