JOHNSON CITY (June 26, 2019) – Nationally-known outdoorsman Garry Mason is joining an Affiliate Member of the Innovation Lab at East Tennessee State University – ConnectScale, LLC – to build a high school fishing and tournament fishing platform.
W. Scott Morris, vice president of Connect Outdoors, says Mason will help the company develop the Connect Outdoors Tournament Trail, provide assistance implementing and running operations of the membership organization, and assist in acquiring high school and college customers for the tournament platform. Mason is the founding head coach of the Bethel University Bass Fishing Team, National Champions of Collegiate Bass Fishing for the last two consecutive years and the first to repeat a championship title.
“Garry is an innovator, pioneer, visionary and conservationist,” Morris said. “I'm excited and humbled that Garry's vision of our Connect Outdoors platform including our ConnectScale tournaments and fundraising matches our vision. Bethel University is the dominant force in collegiate fishing, a program Garry built.”
In addition to being a head fishing coach and founder of the Legends of the Outdoors Hall of Fame, Mason is the executive director for Northwest Tennessee Tourism and has been featured in many outdoor publications and television programs across the country.
“I like working with innovative companies. The ConnectScale tournament platform and the company’s vision for future products compliments my view of intelligent use of technology in fishing,” Mason said.
