Several College of Public Health alums were recognized at the Tennessee Public Health Association 2024 Conference during the awards luncheon.
Sarah Boop, RN, MPH was awarded the Public Health Worker of the Year. This award is presented to a person in the public health field who has provided outstanding services to the field during the past three years. Sarah is an Epidemiologist for the Northeast Region, Tennessee Department of Health. She received a master of public health in epidemiology from the College of Public Health.
The Northeast Region Syphilis Work Group won the Public Health Worker of the Year Group Award. This award is presented to a local, regional, or state public health group, unit, or department that has made an outstanding contribution to public health. College of Public Health alum part of the group include: Rebekah English, Regional Director; Sarah Boop, Regional CEDS Director; Hopelyn Mooney, Regional Epidemiologist; Sydney Butterfield, Washington County Health Department Director; Jaime Hensley, Greene/Unicoi County Health Department Director; Shaun Street, Hancock/ Hawkins County Health Department Director; Katie McClellan, Regional Assessment and Planning Coordinator. Dr. David Kirschke, adjunct instructor in the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology was also a member of the work group.
