College celebrates fall picnic

The College of Public Health celebrated its Annual Faculty and Staff Picnic on August 21, 2024.

The college welcomed new faculty and staff including Kayla Alvis, Maggie Francisco, Chyanne Morrison, Kimberly Murray, Benjamin Pelton, Fatimah Olawuyi and Olivia Sullivan in the Center for Rural Health and Research; Md Rasheduzzaman in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety Sciences; Saman Naz and Rakesh Adelli in the Department of Health Services Management and Policy; and Ariel Berry in the Office of Student Services.

The annual fall picnic allows the college to recognize outstanding accomplishments by individuals and groups.  

The Dean selects the Dean’s Special Recognition Awards to recognize excellence in advancing the mission of the College.  

The group award was presented to the college-level committee chairs for the 2023-2024 academic year.  This included Kate Beatty, Bill Brooks, Taylor Dula, Nathan Hale, Rachel Kellogg, Hadii Mamudu, Whitney Oliver, Debbi Quesenberry, Lee Sallah, and Phil Scheuerman.    

The first Dean’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to an Individual was presented to Dr. Rod Handy for his work in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety Sciences.  The second individual award was presented to Dr. Debbi Quesenberry for her years of service as the Department of Community & Behavioral Health Chair.  

The faculty and staff awards are nominated by colleagues and students and selected by the Awards and Scholarship Committee.
