Educational Opportunity Center
The Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) is a free TRiO program designed to assist 1000 adults in obtaining a high school equivalency (HiSET or GED) and/or with college or vocational school enrollment. EOC staff assists participants with determination of educational goals, academic assistance, completion of college admission and financial aid applications (FAFSA), college adjustment concerns and career exploration. The program is for anyone who does not already have a four-year degree. The program can even continue to assist students after they have begun college coursework. Participants must reside in Carter, Unicoi, Hawkins, Sullivan, Johnson, Washington, or Greene counties in Tennessee

Educational Talent Search
Educational Talent Search (ETS) is a pre-college TRiO program that helps middle school and high school students prepare for and enter post-secondary education. Talent Search provides career exploration and planning, workshops and individual counseling sessions for financial aid, scholarship information, ACT preparation, and college exploration. The program also arranges college campus visits and educational and cultural trips. Talent Search works with the 7th - 12th grades in Hawkins, Johnson and Sullivan counties.
TRiO
TRiO programs started with the Educational Opportunity Act of 1964 and the Higher Education Act of 1965. All TRiO programs are funded by the U.S. Department of Education. In 2024-2025 the ETSU EOC will receive $284,745 and Educational Talent Search will receive $336,357 to serve participants.
