Introduction to Indoor Climbing Thursday, February 3 4:00pm - 6:00pm Cost: FREE
Join OA staff at the Climbing Wall in the CPA to learn the basics of indoor climbing. Our knowledgeable staff will teach how to tie knots, proper harness use, how to belay, and introduce basic climbing techniques! At the end of the clinic you will be ready to test for your Belay Tag the next time you visit the climbing wall! -
Introduction to Sport Lead Climbing Thursday, February 10 4:00pm - 6:00pm Cost: FREE
Join OA staff at the Climbing Wall in the CPA to discover the world of lead climbing. Our knowledgeable staff will teach sport lead climbing technique including how to lead belay, how to clip quickdraws, how to safely move above your protection, falling technique, and sport lead gear. Participants must have passed an ETSU belay test prior to the start of the clinic. At the end of the session you will be ready to test for your Lead Climbing Tag the next time you visit the climbing wall! -
Introduction to Canoeing Wednesday, February 16 7:00pm - 9:00pm Cost: FREE
In partnership with ETSU Aquatics, join OA in the pool for training in canoeing! Knowledgeable Staff will teach paddle strokes, how to enter and exit a canoe, how to transfer while on the water, and how to rescue a flipped boat and its crew. Prepare yourself for warmer weather and time out on the water with this important training. -
Fire Building How-To Thursday, March 3 4:00pm - 6:00pm Cost: FREE
Who doesn’t enjoy lighting wood on fire?! Join OA and learn how to construct the ultimate fire. OA staff will lead the process from collecting the best fuel to the initial lighting, to various construction techniques. Develop skills to light a campfire anywhere, anytime you need it, as well as how to manage and reduce your environmental impact. FIRE! -
Learn to Rappel Thursday, March 31 4:00pm-5:30pm/6:00pm - 7:30pm Cost: FREE
Come out to the Basler Challenge and Aerial Adventure Course and rappel 50 feet down the side of the main tower! Receive instruction from trained and knowledgeable staff that will teach you how to set up and load your rappel device, how to manage the rope, and how to move down a sheer face in the most effective way. -
Learn Backcountry Cooking Thursday, April 14 5:00pm - 8:00pm Cost: $5
Oatmeal and protein bars get boring! Join OA and learn how to cook delicious meals in the backcountry. OA staff will provide instruction in how to use stoves and backcountry cook gear to prepare and cook a meal. Don’t worry about dinner as you will cook your own during this clinic. FOOD!
