Alcohol 101 Learning Objectives (60-minute presentation)

  1. Learn about the Harm Reduction approach to alcohol and substance use.
  2. Discuss the pros and cons of alcohol use.
  3. Learn about the "perfect buzz" (point of diminishing returns).
  4. Learn about how men and women process alcohol differently.
  5. Learn about how weight plays into your Blood Alcohol Content calculation.
  6. Learn what a "standard" drink is.
  7. Learn your personal drink count.
  8. Learn about risky drinking and how to make safer choices, if you choose to drink.
  9. Learn about the myths vs. realities related to sobering up.
  10. Learn about how to recognize an alcohol emergency, and what to do about it.
  11. Learn about alcohol's interaction with other drugs.
  12. Learn about "social norms" and explore "perception vs. reality" about drinking on college campuses nationally and at ETSU.
  13. Receive resources for additional information about alcohol, marijuana, and opioids
  14. Receive information about local alcohol and substance misues resources.
