East Tennessee State University is committed to developing the intellect and ethical behavior of its students. Students found to be in violation of policies on plagiarism, cheating, and/or fabrication will be held accountable for their actions. Any knowledge of academic misconduct should be reported. Students are expected to act with honesty, integrity, and civility in all matters.

Academic Dishonesty

Note: Discussing exams that are currently ongoing is academic dishonesty

If a UTS staff member has cause to suspect that a student is cheating, they will collect any evidence, complete an Incident Report, and send a copy of that report, and the evidence, to the student's instructor and the testing director. The student will be informed that an Incident Report has been recorded and copied to their instructor, and they will be immediately dismissed from testing services. Further investigation or disciplinary decisions are the responsibility of the course instructor.
