Ms. Braggs US History class had the pleasure of taking a field trip to Sayland Dairy Farm. This farm has been in Jake Hubbard’s family for several generations and is located in Jonesborough, TN. The students were grasciosily given an in-depth and personal tour by Jake and other members of his family.
Students started out the day by feeding the newborn calves, followed by a through discussion and tour of each step in their lifecycle. The grand finale was a visit to the milking barn- where each student succeeded in hand milking a cow! This was a very “moo-ving” experience, as most students have never had the opportunity!
After the Farm Tour the class was fed an amazing home cooked meal by Jake’s family. His entire farming family were incredibly kind and generous for the amazing lunch, including chocolate milk and ice cream made with milk from their farm!
After the meal, the students were taken on an absolutely beautiful hayride through the many acres of the farm. God surely smiled on this day by blessing us all with no rain and all sunshine during the entire day.
Ms. Bragg and her class would like to give Jake Hubbard, and the entire Sayland Dairy Family and big THANK YOU! The time they took away from their work for the tour, and the incredible lunch provided is all greatly appreciated. (Please enjoy some photos the class took on the trip (below)
Please remember that without our support, these local Dairy Farms May not be around much longer! Please always buy local dairy products. The Laura Lynn brand is one product available in our area that includes milk from the Sayland Dairy Farm.
