Crawdad
For the past decade Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical Colleges Appalachian Teaching Project has worked to make the statement there is nothing to do here a lie in our community by engaging a broad cross-section of residents in creating public art for display and performance in our county. This year, Southeast classes in art and music worked with coalitions of community partners to create a new community play and continued to evolve the youth-led and youth-centered Crawdad art and music series. Scheduled events included a community-engaged scripting process for the third Higher Ground play, the art and concert event Crawdadoween 3: Night of the Living Crawdead, a fourth spring Crawdad festival in 2011, a series of community performances of a new Higher Ground play, and completion of tile mosaic projects for Lynch and Cumberland.
