Introduction to Music Theory and Aural Skills

- Class is on Saturday 10:15 a.m. - 11:00 a.m
- Cost: $150 per semester.
In this course students will be introduced to the fundamental elements of music from a theoretical perspective. Students will begin with rudiments of pitch, rhythm, and meter, and move on to explore how those essential components of music can increase understanding and appreciation of music. Moving beyond those basic building blocks, students will explore different scales, keys, intervals, chords, how melodies function, and some basic chord progressions. Students will engage with music through written exercises, singing, improvising, and even by creating and performing their own compositions.
*This class is best suited for individuals above 9th grade. Adults are highly encouraged to join!
