ETSU team secured 3rd place in the Regional Round of the SouthEastern Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition.
Three team members took Full time Job offers from on-the-spot job interviews with NSA. They will be starting Cyber Defense Analyst position with NSA right after their Graduation.
Assistant Professor Biju Bajracharya describes the competition: "We secured 3rd position after 2 days of rigorous on-site cyber defense competition at Kennesaw State University, Atlanta. Our team did very well in the competition and they showed their capability of winning the championship title. Our team faced the experienced teams of other 7 Universities in southeast region: University of Central Florida, Univerity of North Florida, St. Petersburg College, University of South Alabama, Clemson University, Charleston Southern Unviersity, and Charleston Southern University. This is our first attempt of participation representing ETSU both in the qualification and regional round in the same year of the competition and we will continue to participate and demonstrate our team's skills in the future. "
ETSU Cybersecurity Team Places 3rd in Regional Round in 2023 Cyber Defense Competition
Johnson City, TN - The East Tennessee State University Cybersecurity team has placed 3rd in the regional round of the 2023 Southeast Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (SECCDC). This year's competition saw 33 teams participate, with only the top eight advancing to the regional round.
The competition, which started in 2005, is one of the most popular cybersecurity competitions in the nation. The team competed in the regional round of the competition on March 7 at Kennesaw State University.
The ETSU team is made up of eight members, and is led by ETSU Assistant Professor Biju Bajracharya. Team members include Alec Ratner, Anthony Vandergriff, Chandler Scott, Ethan Morgan, Preston Cunningham (Team Captain and President of ETSU Cybersecurity Club), Richmond Reed (Vice President of the ETSU Cybersecurity Club), William Scutt, and Abdussobur Adebayo Giwa. The team members come from the College of Business and Technology’s Department of Computing and from the Logistics and Supply Chain Management program.
