ETSU’s College of Business and Technology is pleased to announce the renewal of the Niswonger Faculty Fellowship for two distinguished faculty members.
The fellowship program is designed to stimulate and facilitate projects by faculty members to improve their teaching, advance their scholarly and creative work, enhance the university's academic programs, and realize institutional goals.
Dr. Michelle Freeman, the Niswonger Faculty Fellow in Accountancy, has significantly enriched ETSU's academic environment since joining in Fall 2015. Her dedication is evident in her teaching roles and leadership as the MAcc Program Coordinator. Beyond academia, Dr. Freeman also serves as the Site Coordinator of the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program and is active in professional organizations. The fellowship has supported her participation in numerous conferences, enhancing her professional development and contributing to her extensive portfolio of publications and presentations. Dr. Freeman's commitment to the accounting profession and higher education will continue with planned presentations at prestigious conferences in 2024.
Dr. Ghaith Husari, the Niswonger Faculty Fellow in Technology, has brought valuable expertise to ETSU since Fall 2019, focusing on data-driven analytics for cybersecurity. His innovative teaching methods and dedication to student-centered research have earned him acclaim from students and colleagues. With the fellowship funds, Dr. Husari has initiated several research projects in cybersecurity and data analytics, resulting in the publication of 8 research papers. He has also used the grant to attend conferences, enhancing his professional development. Dr. Husari plans to continue his high-quality research and student-centered projects to support the Department of Computing and the College of Business and Technology.
The renewal of the Niswonger Faculty Fellowship is a testament to ETSU's commitment to excellence in education and research.
