Welcome to ETSU's Governor's School for the Integration of Biology and Statistical Sciences (IB&SS). We are excited about this year's program and we are sure that it will be better than ever!
The 2025 Governor's School in Integration of Biological & Statistical Sciences will begin on Sunday, May 25th, 2025 and conclude on Friday, June 27th, 2025.

Process to Apply
Application
The 2025 student application process is going to be ONLINE only, and will be available starting on October 1, 2024 at 8:00am.
Deadline to submit all required materials is Dec 6, 2024.
Please follow all directions on the 2025 Governor's School program student application. See also step-by-step instructions below.
Having issues with the application link? There was an ETSU-wide issue with the systems in late October 2024. Please email Lee Sallah if you are having trouble proceeding through the application.
Instructions
Please make sure all emails are spelled correctly. Misspelled emails can cause delays or even prevent the student from successfully completing the application.
IMPORTANT: This is a multi-step process and all steps must be submitted prior to the deadline in order for the student to be considered. Students and families should check with the references to ensure all stages are complete.
1. High school counselor nomination

- The high school counselor starts the online application first.
- They must nominate the student for the program using a personal email address for the student.
- After this, the student will get an email with a link to follow.
- NOTE: If the student would like to prepare for their portion before receiving access,
the following items will be requested:
- Please attach the detailed, typed resume customized to be appropriate for this school (Integration of Biological and Statistical Sciences).
- The student must write a maximum 500-word essay on how so much of today's science is interdisciplinary and data driven. The essay MUST be appropriate for the school (Itegration of BIological and Statistical Sciences).
2. Student portion

- The student then receives notification to complete and must submit personal information and submit a request for a letter of recommendation to one math and one science teacher that the student has chosen for their personal references. Note: Be sure to enter emails correctly for the teachers.
- The student will enter their personal email address. Note: They should not enter their school email address.
- Once submitted, emails will be sent to the teachers.
- The Student should confirm that the teachers received the links.
3. Final Step - Teacher recommendations

- The math and science teachers complete their part of the application.
- The student should check that both teachers received the request, and follow up to be sure letters are submitted on time.
- Once they are submitted, an email is sent to the counselor.
Accommodations
Any student that has been invited, has accepted, and has been admitted into the 2025 GS IB&SS program who would like to request accommodations should contact ETSU's disability services office by phone (423-439-8346) or by email (littleme@etsu.edu) prior to the start date of the Governor’s School program. Additionally, the Office of Disability Services can provide assistance for any applicant that may require accommodations in the admissions process.

2025 GS IB&SS Schedule
May 25th- June 27th, 2025
October 1, 2024: TN Governor's School applications will be available on the Department of Education (DOE) website under the Integration of Biological and Statistical Sciences and at this link 2025 GS IB&SS Student Application ONLY. https://www.tn.gov/education/districts/instruction/tdoe-governors-schools.html
December 6, 2024: Deadline for TN Governor's School applications to be submitted on the online portal. https://redcap.link/gsetsu2025 Applications will be accepted ONLINE ONLY. No paper applications will be accepted. Please do not phone or email asking for a paper application to be submitted.
February 28, 2025: Invitation letters will be emailed from the Governor's School to the thirty students selected to attend the program by email. Also, students who are selected as alternates will be notified by email.
Students who have submitted a complete application and who are not selected to attend or as an alternate, will be notified of their status as well on this date.
If a student, who is not selected to attend the 2025 Governor's School program, and they are currently a sophomore, they are welcome to apply to the 2026 GS IB&SS program.
Sunday, May 25th, 2025: TN Governor's School IB&SS begins with Opening Ceremony on the ETSU Main Campus. Room TBC.
Friday, June 27th, 2025: TN Governor's School IB&SS ends with Student Project Presentations on the ETSU Main Campus. Room TBC.
