Statistics
Students are enrolled in a 3-credit introductory course in statistics, MATH 1530-070: Probability and Statistics, led by Dr. Robert Price.
Overview
The course covers the typical content of an introductory statistics course plus additional topics and the use of the program, R. The notion of statistical inference is introduced very early in the course by means of randomization tests and the exact sampling distribution of the sample proportion based on the Binomial distribution.
The examples in probability are oriented toward topics of interest in genetics and bio-informatics so that students can apply these concepts to an integrated reserach project in collaboration with their biology course.
