Kingsport is where famous trailblazer Daniel Boone began his journey to the western frontier. The city developed around the Holston River where Boone began his Wilderness Road expedition through the Appalachian Mountains. Fast-forward more than 200 years and Kingsport now has a population of more than 53,000.

The small cabin where the Carter family wrote famous folk ballads is now the location of the Carter Family Fold, only a short drive from Kingsport. But, you don't have to leave town to enjoy the sounds of southern Appalachia. Downtown Kingsport offers a free summer concert series - Twilight Alive. And more than 70 professional musicians make up Symphony of the Mountains, which plays classical concerts, pops and light musical offerings across the region.
