Brief Bio
Juan Zhao, PhD, has been serving as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at East Tennessee State University's Quillen College of Medicine in Johnson City since 2020.
Dr. Zhao's research interests involve investigating T cell immune aging mechanisms in order to develop approaches to improve immune responses during human chronic viral infection. She currently serves as principal investigator of one NIH funded study and co-investigator of several NIH funded studies designed to further understand the mechanisms and pathways that contribute to immune aging-associated human diseases.
Author of more than 30 articles in peer-reviewed journals, Dr. Zhao has served as a reviewer for NIH grant applications, and is a member of the American Association of Immunologists.
