Division Statement | Faculty | Research/Scholarly Activity | ETSU Health in Kingsport, TN
Third year medical students at the Quillen College of Medicine are encouraged to pursue their general internal medicine clerkship with the Kingsport Division. Students are challenged with patient care responsibilities commensurate with experience and teaching is always a focus of the ward service. Any afternoon free time may be used to supplement the experience by spending one on one time with faculty at the outpatient office.
Fourth year students are encouraged to take on additional responsibilities as subinterns. A larger patient load and added duties as more is expected of our fourth year students.
Residents participate on our inpatient ward service. Patients come from our own practice as well as unattached patients admitted through the Emergency Department at Holston Valley Medical Center. An every-fourth call schedule allows for strong patient experience while keeping under the mandated duty hour limits. For details please see the Residency description.
Outpatient education of residents is also encouraged through continuity clinics as well as month long ambulatory rotations.
Both inpatient and outpatient experiences are enhanced through the use of online learning and lectures broadcast throughout the system.
