Brief Bio
Dr. Pourmorteza received his Bachelor's degree from East Tennessee State University where he completed his major in Biology and minor in German, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He earned his medical degree from Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He started his residency in Internal Medicine at East Tennessee State University where he became a member of Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society and recipient of Caduceus club award. He finally completed his fellowship training in Hospice & Palliative Care at Duke University.
After completing his training, Dr. Pourmorteza was given the opportunity to become the Hospice & Palliative Care medical director at Mountain Home Veteran Administration. He also serves as Associate Program Director of General Internal Medicine residency program and plays an active role in the training and educating medical residents.
