Brief Bio
Wael Shams, M.D., also serves as an infectious diseases specialist and infection control physician at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Mountain Home, Tennessee.
After earning his medical degree from his native Egypt, Dr. Shams completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and his fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the University of Kentucky's School of Medicine.
Dr. Shams is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases, and he is a member of the American College of Physicians, the Infectious Disease Society of America, and the American Academy of HIV Medicine. An experienced researcher, the results of his studies are published in several peer-reviewed journals, including Clinical Infectious Diseases, Infections in Medicine, and the Southern Medical Journal.
