Mystery of the Week is designed to help students build upon their knowledge of differential diagnosis
and clinical skills and to apply this knowledge at the bedside. Each week a new case
is presented along with the answer to last weeks case.
Participating students can compete for an Osler Award (which includes a one year subscription
to the New England Journal of Medicine and a certificate); GOLD STARS worth two points
are awarded for the right answer, PLATINUM STARS worth three points are awarded for
the right answer accompanied by an exceptionally good discussion. SILVER STARS worth
one point are awarded for participation when the answer is incorrect. The student
in each class with the most points will receive his or her award at the end of the
academic year. To receive credit, students must e-mail their answers to smithj@etsu.edu. Students from all US and international medical schools are eligible for these awards.
