ETSU has unveiled a new “running Bucky” logo.

Bucky, East Tennessee State University’s energetic mascot, has taken on different looks through the years.

None have been as popular, though, as the “running Bucky,” a vault logo generally reserved for retail to maintain ETSU history but not generate confusion with the current university brand.

But at Saturday’s Homecoming football game against Mercer, ETSU unveiled a new version of “running Bucky.”

“From alumni to students, there has been so much demand for this Bucky,” said Barb Mason, director of Trademark Licensing at ETSU. “We are so excited to offer this exciting new design.”

The new logo is a more modern rendition of Bucky that honors the spirit and legacy of the vintage “running Bucky.”

Logoed merchandise is available at the ETSU Bookstore; Bucky’s Treasure Chest, located inside William B. Greene Jr. Stadium; and Alumni Hall. Online purchases will be available in the days ahead.

“We hope this new logo will resonate with the entire ETSU community, connecting the past with the present as we continue to celebrate our ETSU pride,” said Mason.

The running Bucky logo was the school’s official athletic logo until 2001.
