APS for Transfer Students

 Your good grades and ACT/SAT score could help pay for college!

The Academic Performance Scholarship Program (APS) is ETSU's largest merit based scholarship program for new transfer students from Tennessee and border counties eligible for in-state tuition. These scholarships are awarded based on your cumulative college GPA. You must have at least 24 transferrable semester hours and a minimum GPA of 3.5 to be considered.

If you are a transfer student, you will need to submit a scholarship application by June 15. If you wish to be considered for other endowed scholarships, the application is available October 1st through March 1st.

Academic Performance Scholarships (or Academic Service Scholarships) do NOT automatically transfer from Tennessee Community Colleges to ETSU.

    • Minimum GPA: 3.5 to be considered and minimum of 24 credits of transferable courses
    • Resident of TN --OR-- one of the following border counties NC: Ashe, Avery, Haywood, Madison, Mitchell, Watauga, Yancey VA: Grayson, Lee, Scott, Washington
  • Renewal Requirements (Scholarships are renewable for a total of 6 semesters if the following requirements are met each semester):
    • Maintain a 2.5 term GPA,
    • Maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA, and
    • Enroll in and pass at least 15 credit hours each semester (not including Learning Support courses), unless approved to enroll in less via appeal.
  • Exclusions:
    • Academic Performance Scholarships (or Academic Service Scholarships) do NOT automatically transfer from Tennessee Community Colleges to ETSU.
    • Students may not receive a Transfer APS and any one of the following scholarships:  Academic Officers Transfer, Coca-Cola, All-TN Team Member, Midway, Quillen, Honors-in-Discipline, Math & Science, Music APS, Changemaker Scholarships or Volunteer State Student Assistance.
