Services that provide assistance with your departmental computing needs.
Campus Multimedia Support
ITS installs and maintains the equipment in multimedia classrooms. ITS staff are available from 7:30 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. during the fall and spring semesters to address problems and questions encountered in the classroom. Faculty experiencing problems in the classroom should contact the Help Desk. Please inform the Help Desk if you are currently in the classroom and need urgent assistance, ITS will make every attempt to visit the classroom immediately. Multimedia classroom computers are replaced on a regular basis and software images are refreshed annually or sooner if required.
Computer Purchasing Consulting
ITS staff can help you determine the right computer for your departmental needs. Whether you are interested in a laptop, desktop, or tablet, ITS staff will work with you to determine your needs and then make recommendations on appropriate settings. ITS regularly reviews new models and reviews feedback and requests when determining standard computer equipment. Approved standard computers are available to purchase through eBucs and all computer requests are vetted through ITS before being approved through Purchasig. If your needs are not covered by one of the standards, please contact Ray Webb to discuss your specific needs. Contact ITS for help with purchasing or for help in making a computer decision.
Computer Replacement
ETSU provides standard desktop and laptop computers to faculty and staff in an effort to maintain current technology on campus for the betterment of ETSU as a whole. Computers are replaced on a four-year schedule and bulk purchasing enables a reduction in the total cost of ownership. A full description of this program, policy, form and configurations are listed on the Computer Replacement Program Page.
Computer/Printer
ITS can assist with most desktop, laptop, tablet, and printer needs. ITS will install desktops and printers, ensuring that faculty and staff have access to the software and printers they need. ITS staff are also available to troubleshoot any software or hardware problems and perform any necessary repairs. ETSU computers are purchased with a comprehensive warranty so that end users can feel secure that any problems can be addressed.
Copier/Printer Setup
ITS can help you determine the best copier or printer for your departmental needs. Supported copiers and printers are purchased through eBucs and an ITS staff member will make arrangements to install and configure new copiers and printers. Contact ITS for assistance in selecting a copier/printer or the ITS Help Desk when you are ready to schedule installation and setup.
Data Recovery
ITS can help recover data that has been lost or compromised. Depending on the circumstances, some data may be unavailable for restoration. Faculty and staff should contact the Help Desk immediately to determine what happened and begin the process of data recovery. End users are encouraged to back up data frequently to a secured drive separate from the laptop or desktop.
Repurposed Computers
ITS keeps a minimum of 10% of the Dell computers scheduled for replacement through the Computer Replacement Program. Those computers are made available to departments and units that need additional computers for adjuncts or student employees. The $125.00 cost covers the extended warranty (hardware and software support) on the 4 year-old computer for an additional 2 years. A description of this program, FAQ, and request form are listed on the Repurposed Computer Page.

ITS staff members can install purchased software on ETSU-owned laptop and desktop computers. Any ETSU-wide software can be installed upon request.
