Special Message from Dr. Troy Knechtel, University School Director
Hello Bucs Family-
Tomorrow evening we will recognize the accomplishments of the Class of 2018 as these young men and women some of whom have been at University School since kindergarten cross the stage to receive their diplomas and prepare to begin a new journey. It is also a time in which we reach the ending of another school year and reflect on the many highlights of the 2017-18 year. University School is a truly special place, and I have been honored to call this school my home and to call you my family for the past three years.
As you may know, shortly after I arrived at University School I was diagnosed with Parkinsons disease. Your support and prayers have meant so much to me and my wife during this time. Though I have responded to my treatment, I have decided to spend the next six months focused solely on my health. I will begin medical leave on July 1 and will spend the remainder of the calendar year resting and also pursuing other possible treatment options. My hope is to return to University School on January 1, 2019.
During my six-month absence, Ariane Day will serve as interim director of University School, and Dr. Justin Penley is being named as interim assistant director. I have every confidence in their abilities to lead University School and continue to strengthen the ties with Clemmer College during my absence.
Thank you for your continued support and prayers. I am truly blessed.
Sincerely,
Dr. Knechtel
Thanks as always,
Dr. Troy Knechtel
