504 Coordinator, ETSU University School, Johnson City, TN, November 2016 – present
- Maintain confidentiality and respect all FERPA laws.
- Develop a systematic process for monitoring building level compliance with Section 504 requirements.
- Collect and maintain building records and documentation (evaluation reports, signed documents, etc.) for all students eligible under Section 504 and keep them in a secure environment.
- Facilitate the implementation of the school’s policies and procedures related to Section 504 and ensure that they are applied consistently.
- Determine appropriate Section 504 team composition
- Facilitate Section 504 evaluations and development of Section 504 plans.
- Provide notices and documenting parental consent.
- Distribute Section 504 plans to appropriate staff.
- Monitor the implementation of Section 504 plans and ensure that students are receiving appropriate accommodations/modifications for classroom and state assessments.
- Schedule annual reviews of each Section 504 plan.
- Schedule comprehensive re-evaluations of all students eligible under Section 504 at least every three years.
- Assure that Section 504 plans move with the student to the next grade level and to new schools.
- Serve as a resource to the building administrators, teachers, and staff regarding Section 504.
- Develop a working knowledge of current laws, regulations, and guidelines related to disability discrimination in public schools, including Section 504.
- Coordinate revisions to school policies and procedures related to Section 504, as necessary, to ensure that they are up-to-date and consistent with current requirements under these laws.

- Responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program to meet the needs of students who are unable to attend school for medical reasons.
- Maintain frequent contact with parents and teachers.

- Serve as the home-school liaison while the student is receiving homebound services.
- Meet with student up to 3 hours per week for instruction or assessment.
- Submit all completed work to teachers in a timely manner.
- Scan and email corrected work to student/parent in a timely manner if the home visit will not take place before the scheduled assessment.

- Research, compare, and select universal screeners for K-8, oversee the screening process, and maintain complete and accurate data records for each assessment.
- Train teachers to give screening assessments.
- Use data from quality assessments to identify areas of strength and opportunity for each student.
- Serve as a resource for classroom teachers to help them develop research-based, instructional practices that support the development of children’s language, early literacy, writing skills, and mathematical background knowledge/concept development in the Tier I classroom.
- Guide teachers in the data-decision making process and help them learn how to read given reports.
- Actively triangulate data to help teachers identify and group children who need additional support and plan high-quality whole group and small group instruction.
- Develop, implement, and teach skills-based, developmentally appropriate interventions for individual and groups of children in Tier II and Tier III to enhance their acquisition of identified skill deficits in reading, math, and written expression.
- Ensure all interventions are taught with a high rate of fidelity.
- Plan, schedule, and facilitate the RTI2/ID Team Meeting process (held every 4.5 weeks) with teachers and administration. Send home appropriate documentation to parents following each meeting.
- Oversee data collection and progress monitoring at every tier.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents on an ongoing basis.
- Continually evaluate and seek out high-quality intervention materials in the areas of reading, math, and written expression.
- Maintain accurate records for all students who receive Tier II or Tier III intervention.
- Communicate regularly with Washington County to stay up to date on district policies regarding RTI2 and SPED Referrals.
- Seek to understand and implement current policies, trends, and guidelines for students with suspected dyslexia.
- Attend district, state, and/or national level Professional Development opportunities that focus on dyslexia and RTI2.
- Supervise ETSU practicum students/student teachers as needed.
