About the TCNA
Founding of the Center
The Tennessee Center for Nursing Advancement has a rich history of growth and collaboration. Established in October 2021 at East Tennessee State University, the Appalachian Highlands Center for Nursing Advancement was launched with a significant investment from Ballad Health. In July 2022, the Tennessee legislature formally established the Tennessee Center for Nursing Advancement through Senate Bill 2401.
As of August 2024, these two centers merged to operate as one unified entity. In November 2024, we received official approval to operate under the name Tennessee Center for Nursing Advancement. Shortly thereafter, we held our inaugural advisory board meeting, bringing together members from both centers to shape the future of nursing in Tennessee.
