Amerigroup ARMS Scholarship
Purpose:
Driven by a commitment to improve healthcare in rural and distressed areas of Tennessee,
Amerigroup Tennessee has created this unique scholarship opportunity. Applications
are currently being accepted for the Amerigroup Rural Medicine Scholarship (ARMS),
which will be awarded in the fall of 2021 to three students in ETSU’s Master of Science
in Nursing-Family Nurse Practitioner (MSN-FNP) concentration. Valued at $52,000 per
student, the scholarship will cover all tuition and fees.
Initial Eligibility Criteria:
Students must be enrolled/preparing to enroll in the MSN-FNP program.- Students must have a 3.5 Grade Point Average (GPA), which must be maintained to continue to receive funding.
Preference will be given to in-state students who have demonstrated a strong desire to serve their local neighborhoods and communities and/or who have been a caregiver to individuals in their immediate families.- Preference will also be given to students that demonstrate financial need or are first generation graduate-level students
- Recipients will agree to sign a release statement allowing for a photo, basic biographical information and excerpts of their Student Statement to be shared with Amerigroup Tennessee, Inc., for public relations purposes.
- Recipients will agree that, upon graduation, they will aim to find a Nurse Practitioner position that allows them to serve in a distressed county in Tennessee. As of Oct. 2020, the 11 distressed counties, as identified by Governor Bill Lee, include: Lake, Lauderdale, Hardeman, Perry, Wayne, Clay, Grundy, Bledsoe, Scott, Hancock, and Cocke.
Renewal Eligibility Criteria:
Students must maintain a 3.5 GPA.
