Becoming a member of the Student Nurses' Association (SNA) is an exciting and rewarding experience that provides the student nurse with many benefits. The Board of Directors is striving hard to present more opportunities for members to represent themselves to the College of Nursing faculty, potential employers, legislators of our state, the state level, (TNA) and to national representatives of the SNA.

Purpose of the SNA


  • To support nursing education in a manner that promotes the highest quality of health care.
  • To provide programs representative of fundamental and current professional interest and concerns.
  • To aid in the development of the whole person, and his/her professional role, his/her responsibility for the health care of people in all walks of life.
  • Active Membership Requirements

    In order to maintain active member status in the Student Nurses Association, students must have two consecutive semesters of the following:

    •  Paying your dues
    •  Attending at least 3 out of 5 meetings per semester
    • Showing proof of participation in at least one SNA sponsored event per semester.

      Note: You must maintain active membership during your last semester of senior year.

    After active membership requirements are fulfilled with SNA, active members will receive a graduation honors cord free of charge for their loyalty, determination, and hard work.

  • SNA in the Community

    SNA has been involved with different groups in the Johnson City community volunteering many hours and manpower to help promote community health and well being. SNA worked with the American Red Cross's blood drive, recruiting volunteers, and managing the drive. Also the SNA participated in "Into the Street" working with Habitat for Humanity to feed some of the areas homeless population.

    Thanks to the contributions and support by other local organizations, along with ETSU faculty, and private citizens the SNA has been able to increase membership which has allowed the organization to offer more services in and throughout the community.

     

  • Promoting Professional Organizations

    The National Student Nurses Association (NSNA) is a pre-professional organization that encourages all nursing and pre-nursing students in any state-approved program preparing for RN licensure, or registered nurses in a program leading to a baccalaureate in nursing to become involved.

    Over 30,000 nursing students are already taking advantage of the many benefits and opportunities that NSNA has to offer.  Just a few of the benefits offered to members of NSNA are leadership opportunities through state and national offices; representation in the annual House of Delegates; discounts on products and services; a subscription to NSNA's official magazine published by and for nursing students and an opportunity to influence nursing practice in the future.
