Admissions Process
Transfer students who are ready to apply to the Bachelor Science in Nursing program will complete two applications: one application to ETSU Undergraduate Admissions, and one to the College of Nursing through Nursing CAS. These applications should both be started several weeks ahead of the Nursing program application deadlines, and can be done simultaneously.

1. Apply to ETSU Admissions
All students interested in applying to nursing will first need to apply to ETSU Admissions. Transfer students will need to ensure all college level coursework is transferred for transferability of courses. Apply to ETSU

2. Complete ETSU Compass Core (General Education Requirements)
Students need to complete all Compass Core (General Education) Requirements.
Nursing Prerequisites that meet Compass Core Requirements:
Quantitative Reasoning (3 credits):
MATH 1530 Probability & Statistics non-calculus
Natural Sciences (4 + 8 additional credits for nursing):
HSCI 2010/11 Anatomy & Physiology I w/lab
HSCI 2020/21 Anatomy & Physiology II w/labHSCI 2230/31 Intro to Microbiology w/lab*
*HSCI 2230/31 is a nursing prerequisite ONLY
Three of the four nursing prerequisites must be completed before application.

3. Nursing Prerequisite GPA
Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA): A minimum cumulative college level Grade Point Average (GPA)
of 3.0 as computed by East Tennessee State University (excluding developmental coursework) is required.
Prerequisite GPA: A minimum pre-requisite (GPA) of 2.75 is required. Pre-requisite courses must be completed within 5 years of admission to the nursing program. -
4. Apply through Nursing CAS
Students must apply to the College of Nursing using the Centralized Application System (Nursing CAS).
Official Transcripts from all colleges attended (including dual enrollment during high school) must be sent to CAS.
The Nursing CAS application process should be started well in advance of the application deadline.

Deadlines for Nursing Admissions are as follows:
Spring is October 1
Summer is February 1
Fall is June 1 -
5. TEAS
Standardized Entrance Examination: Applicants must electronically submit all scores from the Test of
Essential Academic Skills (TEAS). The TEAS exam must be completed within two (2) years of application
to the nursing program. Students must achieve a minimum overall TEAS exam score of 65%.
Applicants can take the TEAS exam a maximum of two (2) times with a minimum
30-day waiting period requirement between attempts to allow applicants to engage in remediation.
*LPN-BSN students who have taken the TEAS exam within the past two (2) years as part of their admission to their LPN program may submit the results as part of their application for the LPN-BSN program. Students are encouraged to pay close attention to the minimum score requirement as stated above
Students may take the TEAS at the ETSU Testing Center or go to www.atitesting.com to find other locations.
Costs: $15 to reserve your seat at ETSU Testing Center; ATI TEAs is $70.00.
You must bring a government issued ID with a signature, such as a driver’s license the day you take the test. Your student ID does not meet this standard.
TEAS must be completed prior to nursing application deadline.
