Welcome to the Interfraternity Council at East Tennessee State University!
The Interfraternity Council (IFC) at ETSU is the governing body of eight (8) social fraternities represented on campus that unites and supports a diverse array of chapters, fostering leadership, scholarship, service, and brotherhood among its members. As advocates for its member organizations, IFC strives to cultivate an environment where individuals can grow personally, academically, and professionally.
The IFC member organizations at ETSU are: Alpha Sigma Phi, Beta Upsilon Chi, Kappa Sigma, Phi Delta Theta, Pi Kappa Alpha, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Sigma Chi, Sigma Phi Epsilon. These eight fraternities create the Interfraternity Council (IFC) at ETSU.

- Established on December 6, 1845, Alpha Sigma Phi stands as a brotherhood dedicated to the holistic development of its members under the motto "To Better The Man." Its distinguished cardinal and stone colors symbolize the values of silience, charity, purity, honor, and patriotism. The fraternity's mascot, the Phoenix, embodies the ideas of rebirth and renewal. Through a commitment to scholarship, personal growth, and strong bonds of brotherhood, Alpha Sigma Phi members strive to better themselves and their community through acts of service and leadership. Beta Upsilon Chi | ΒΥΧ
- Founded on April 27, 1985, Beta Upsilon Chi (pronounced “Bucs”) is a fraternity grounded in faith and brotherhood, operating under the motto "Brothers Under Christ." Sporting purple and white as their official colors, BYX embraces the Buck as its mascot. A national fraternity of men who believe there’s a more meaningful way to enjoy college and fulfill God’s purpose for our lives. BYX exists to equip and empower college Christian men to live faithfully and lead courageously. Lasting far beyond our college years, BYX is a lifelong community that provides spiritual growth, social connections, and selfless leadership through life-changing experiences. Kappa Sigma | ΚΣ
- Established on December 10, 1869, Kappa Sigma embodies the values of fellowship, leadership, scholarship, and service under the motto "A Brotherhood Like No Other." Kappa Sigma has proudly held the title of the largest social fraternity in the world for over two decades. The fraternity proudly represents its identity through scarlet, white, and emerald-green colors and identifies with the Star and Crescent as its symbol. Kappa Sigma's mission centers on camaraderie and personal growth and development, encouraging its members to pursue excellence in all facets of life while upholding their values and giving back to the community through their "Military Heroes Campaign" and "A Greater Cause" philanthropy programs.
