What is Community-Engaged Learning?
Community-Engaged Learning (CEL) is at the very heart of ETSU's mission "to improve the lives of the people of our region and beyond." Our faculty and staff work to facilitate these experiences with our students and community partners to make each moment they are collaborating a meaningful opportunity to learn or grow. We have a growing group of engaged faculty and staff that work to support over 45 different CEL experiences each semester. To learn more about this meaningful pedagogy see the videos and links below.

CEL Workshops and Events
The Office of Community Engagement in collaboration with the Center for Teaching Excellence offers a myriad of professional development opportunities for Community-Engaged Learnings. Examples include the 2-day summer CREATOR, monthly Circle Chats to explore strategies to facilitate critical reflection, CEL Symposia highlighting faculty and instructors teaching CEL Courses, and signature events highlighting nationally known scholars in the field of Community Engagement.
