The Creative Arts Scholarship Program is for first-time, out-of-state graduate and undergraduate students, including international and transfer students. Applicants must be accepted to ETSU before they will be considered for a Creative Arts Scholarship.
Scholarships are available at this time only for incoming students (freshmen and transfer students) that qualify as out-of-state students. The Creative Arts Scholarship can be awarded, if you make either team and qualify as an out-of-state student, allowing your out-of-state tuition to be waived. If you are an in-state student, there is no scholarship available for either team at this time.

The ETSU Cheer Team
- Has a reputation of excellence both in their athletic talents and in their academic endeavors. The primary responsibility is promoting an atmosphere of enthusiasm and excitement at Buccaneer football games as well as men's and women’s home basketball games. The squad is also seen as an ambassador for the university amongst the community. The cheerleaders are supported by the ETSU conditioning coach and athletic training staff.
- Competes at UCA Nationals in Orlando in January. You are responsible for the cost of that trip. However, the team will have several fundraisers for this event throughout the Fall and Spring semesters to help offset some of the cost for Nationals. This year's team is proud to announce that they made history at the 2019 College National Championships by making it to finals for the first time and placed fourth in the nation!
- SPECIAL NOTE: If you make the team and are an incoming freshman or transfer student, the NCAA mandates that you have a Sickle Cell Anemia test done. You must turn in your test results to the Spirit Coordinator PRIOR to any participation as a member of the ETSU Cheer team. There are no exceptions. If you have any trouble getting a test done, contact the Spirit Coordinator and ETSU's In-house facility, BUCSPORTS, will get you an appointment to have it done locally.

The ETSU Dance Team
- Was reintroduced in 2009 after over 10 years of the program’s absence. ETSU prides itself in the dance team's return and progress made in such a short period of time. The dance team participates in both the men's and women’s basketball home games and selected away games.
- Primary responsibilities are cheering sidelines, choreographed timeouts, and performing highly skilled routines at half-time. The dance team is also active on campus and participates in numerous community service projects to better connect ETSU Athletics with the local community.
If you have any specific questions about specific skills, please feel free to reach out to the Spirit Coordinator, Van VanEaton at vaneatonv@etsu.edu.
