Social Work Trainees in the Institute for Integrated Behavioral Health can be considered at the generalist (BSW or MSW Foundation Field) or clinical (MSW Advanced Practice Field) level. These trainees gain a high-quality, closely supervised experience in an integrated clinical setting.
Clinical Interns
Clinical (MSW Concentration) interns will serve in an interprofessional team as Behavioral Health Consultants (BHCs) who provide a combination of traditional and focused therapeutic care. They will learn key skills for focused/brief intervention and gain clinical experiences with a wide range of presenting problems both in the context of warm handoffs and routine referral. They learn key skills around focused intervention, a population health approach, and serving as a consultant to an interprofessional team.
Generalist Interns
Generalist (BSW or MSW Foundation) interns gain exposure to clinical work and first-hand experience with resource management, care consultation around social health needs, and case management/care coordination through team based care.
For the academic years 2021-2025, the ETSU Institute for Integrated Behavioral Health has funding from the HRSA Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training program to fund clinical internships with a stipend of $10,000 plus funds for travel (both local and for national conference attendance).
