Quillen's gross anatomy lab has, since 2011, given a select number of undergraduate students an opportunity to intern in the lab. This internship allows hands on experience with cadavers and an in-depth look at anatomy's relevance for medical students. Though most of our interns have been students at ETSU, we encourage students from all universities and colleges to apply.

Feedback from Current and Past Interns:
"Working as a summer anatomy intern was an incredibly rewarding experience-it taught me to work with a diverse team, allowed me to gain a deeper perspective on medical education, and further excited me to pursue a career in medicine" -Carter Powers, Vanderbilt University, Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine, Class of 2025
"My experiences in the Gross Anatomy Lab taught me more than I had ever expected. Through one-on-one guidance by experienced faculty and staff, I received encouragement that helped me develop personal strengths that I call upon regularly for my current job at a neurology clinic. If you want to prepare yourself for success in a professional or academic setting, this internship is a wonderful opportunity!" -Derek Nikolaus, East Tennessee State University, Quillen College of Medicine, Class of 2025.
"In a practical sense, the Anatomy Lab was my first job. I was a nervous and shy freshman competing for a highly sought after internship to be able to work in the gross lab. I look back on it now and really appreciate that the lab manager, Rob saw the potential I have through the inexperience. At that time, I had no idea how much the Anatomy Lab would impact me. I learned so much more than anatomy and the experience that is medical school. I learned the skills needed to get to that point. The autonomy, responsibility, and trust that the lab faculty and staff placed in me allowed me to become more confident in my leadership skills and self. Through my experience there, I was able to discover the kind of person and physician I want to become. I made great connections and friends. The Anatomy Lab Internship was truly the most influential experience I have had while at ETSU. I cannot thank the staff enough for what they have done for me in terms of my personal and professional development." -Lillith Bulawa, East Tennessee State University, Quillen College of Medicine, Class of 2024
