Continuous Monitoring is now a Prospective Requirement - LCME Standard Element 1.1
A medical school engages in ongoing planning and continuous quality improvement processes that establish short and long-term programmatic goals, result in the achievement of measurable outcomes that are used  to improve programmatic quality, and ensure effective monitoring of the medical education programs compliance with accreditation standards.

MSEC Curriculum Program Evaluation and Implementation Planning is now in progress - follow the MSEC Minutes for up-to-date discussions and actions approved.

Program Evaluation to LCME Visit: Timeline

  • 2015-16 Review of the entire medical education program
  • 2016-17 Implementation of identified curricular changes
  • 2017-18 Academic Year reported on in Self-study Summary Report and DCI
  • 2018-19 Complete Self-study Summary Report and DCI based on academic year 2017-18 data;
    begin process in March 2018

The LCME site visit was completed in late October 2019.  The College of Medicine has received the final report from LCME containing their findings and are drafting a response back to LCME regarding their findings, which is due in December 2020.

Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) Website

The LCME website provides an in-depth view of LCME accreditation standards and elements
by linking them to relevant sections of LCME accreditation publications.

The  LCME Co-Secretaries host interactive discussions of LCME standards/elements and procedures; third Thursday of each month (January - October) unless identified otherwise.
