Mostly Online Post-DNP Adult/Gerontology Primary Care Practitioner Certificate

The Mostly Online Post-DNP certificate program is designed for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses with a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree who seek academic preparation in a new concentration area.

The Post DNP certificate is designed to provide the necessary requirements to provide eligibility for national certification including didactic courses and practicum/clinical hours.

 

"Mostly Online" means that all coursework will be completed online with one required intensive session on campus per semester. For more information on intensive session dates, contact us or visit the Nursing D.N.P. home page.


 

Program Of Study

The Post-DNP Certificate in Adult/Gerontology Nurse Practitioner is designed to provide a broad knowledge through focused didactic and practicum/clinical experiences.

This program focuses on the assessment, diagnosis, and healthcare management of individuals age 13 through the elderly. This specialty area prepares nurse practitioners to care for the aging population in primary care settings.

Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will meet eligibility requirements for the national certification examination.

Admissions Requirements 

A Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from an accredited institution is required for admission as a non-degree student in the Post-DNP Certificate Program. A Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution is required for admission as a non-degree student in the Post-Masters Certificate Program.

Applicants must submit an application and a non-refundable application fee. After receiving notification of acceptance from the School of Graduate Studies, the student must contact the College of Nursing Office of Student Services (423-439-4578) for permission to register as a non-degree student. The College of Nursing may exclude non-degree students from designated courses.
