Spring 2021
What will my classes be like?
In the interest of public health in the time of COVID-19, each of the courses scheduled for the spring 2021 semester has been carefully reviewed in order to evaluate the best format for course delivery. In making these decisions, our academic deans, department chairs and faculty have considered several factors, including which course competencies must be taught on ground and evaluating the ability to accomplish physical distancing guidelines in classrooms.
Registration is open for the spring 2021 semester, which begins Tuesday, January 19. The majority of academic courses – approximately 80% – will be offered remotely. Below is a list of the four types of course formats offered for spring 2021.
Please note that all Winter Session courses (December 15-January 10) will be offered remotely.
*Course formats for Spring 2021
- On-ground required: The student must attend on campus, or at another designated location, for at least part of the semester. At least some of the course competencies cannot be taught without some on-ground experience.
- On-ground with remote options: Students will have the option to complete the course on-ground or remotely according to the schedule determined by the course faculty and communicated on the syllabus. This should only be used for courses that have some on-ground requirements.
- Remote Delivery Online Synchronous: Students meet online as a class at the specific day and time noted on the class schedule.
- Remote Delivery Online Asynchronous: Students complete the course online, working on their own schedule within course deadlines. The day and time will NOT appear on the schedule for asynchronous online courses.
*These course formats do not apply to professional schools such as Quillen College of Medicine and Gatton College of Pharamcy.
