Changemaker Scholars curriculum: By combining a unique honors curriculum with co-curricular and experiential learning opportunities, the program encourages students to develop a deeper understanding of social problems and to work collaboratively with community partners to develop innovative approaches to problems in our region.
Experiential Learning Opportunities: The program includes and encourages experiential opportunities in community engagement, research, study abroad, and internships.
Scholarships (4 years): The Changemaker Scholars scholarship is $9,000 per year for up to four years.
A Cohort Experience: The Changemaker Scholars program admits 25 students each year who go through the program as a cohort. Students are members of the Honors College family and have the opportunity to take classes and collaborate with students in other honors programs.
Membership in the Honors Living and Learning Community: Changemaker Scholars have the opportunity to live in the Honors LLC, where they will live with other honors students, have additional co-curricular support and and social opportunities.
Advising and Mentoring: Changemaker Scholars get advising and mentoring from Honors College faculty and staff as well as peer mentors.
Support in Applying for Nationally Competitive Scholarships: We encourage and assist students in applying for Nationally Competitive Scholarships like the Gilman, Critical Language, Goldwater, Truman, Udall, Humanity in Action, and others.
Priority Registration: Honors students are permitted to register for courses early, which insures an opportunity to register for desired courses that best fit with their schedule.
Honors Spaces: The Honors College offers dedicated study spaces for its students.
Leadership: Changemaker Scholars have the opportunity to serve on the Honors College Student Council and other Honors College committees in order to have input as to the Honors experience at ETSU.
Social Events and Activities: As a community of high-achieving and highly engaged students in a variety of honors programs, the Honors College regularly hosts co-curricular and social events for members of the honors community.
