Reporter Bill Plante at The Washington Center

Speaker at Academic Seminar

In addition to its internship program, The Washington Center also sponsors a number of academic seminars throughout the year. These one- to two-week long in-depth examinations of current topics from national security to electoral politics to the media combine opportunities for experiential fieldwork, site visits and tours, guest speakers, panel discussions, and small group discussions.

Sample academic seminars include:

  • Inside Washington, which explores the political process in action including the crafting of bipartisan solutions and an examination of how the media cover national politics and policies.
  • National Security, which examines the U.S. national security landscape and the impact of national security threats on the domestic and international political worlds.
  • Presidential Inauguration Program, which is offered every four years and focuses on political discourse and the presidential inauguration proceedings.

For additional information about academic seminars, please visit The Washington Centers site or speak with the ETSU campus liaison, Ms. Karla Leybold ().
