Computer Replacement
Project
The Computing Technology Services (CTS) division of ITS is implementing new guidelines for the computer replacement program in an effort to streamline the process. The ETSU Desktop Replacement Policy will replace approximately 40 computers per month and provide eligible faculty and staff with a new desktop computer every four years.
Application
In preparation for your new computer, please complete the New Computer Replacement Information Form. Completion of the form is an important part of this initiative. The submitted form must include your department supervisor's contact information (even if additional cost is not incurred) as departmental approval is required for the purchase of computers. The form allows each employee to make the following choices:
- Desktop computer type and level (types and levels beyond base model incur additional cost to the employee’s department)
- Top 3 most convenient months for replacement
- The day of the week most convenient for replacement
Installation
Once the form has been submitted with the proper supervisor approvals secured, a CTS representative will contact you during the month chosen for replacement to schedule a specific day for installation. On the day of your scheduled appointment:
- Your computer will be setup
- Your data will be transferred
- All peripherals will be reinstalled
Follow-up
In an effort to provide a more positive and efficient experience for faculty and staff, Information Technology Services (ITS) is working to improve the computer replacement process. We will provide a survey after your new computer is installed and would greatly appreciate your feedback regarding the experience and the service provided.
