Detailed Instructions on Connecting Remotely via VPN and Remote Desktop
If planning to VPN/Remote Desktop:
- Ensure that your PC is powered on
- Know your PC's name. This can typically be found on the outside of your computer tower or laptop. (Ex. ETSU900761)
VPN - A VPN connection allows your remote computer to be off-campus and connect to the ETSU network as if it were on the local ETSU network. Once connected, your computer will have access to resources that you can normally access on campus such as the S:\ Drive, T:\ Drive, Banner, Argos, etc. A VPN can also run Remote Desktop to connect to a computer at ETSU.
RD - Remote Desktop allows you to use a remote computer to connect back to your computer on the ETSU campus. This allows you to log in and see your desktop and files as if you were sitting at your computer. The Remote Access usage policy can be found at this site.
