ETSU Residency Policy for Military Affiliated Students (MAS)
The following are the requirements to receive the in-state rate due to veteran status or G.I. Bill® usage for MAS at ETSU.
Veteran applying from out of state
Any Veteran that applies using an out of state address will be required to provide their DD-214 and documentation that meets the EVEA requirements.
Such examples of evidence are, but not limited to:
- Current Driver License
- Official birth certificate issues by a U.S. state, jurisdiction, or territory; except for Puerto Rican birth certificates issues before July 1, 2010
- U.S. government-issued birth certificate
This documentation provides evidence that you may be charged the in-state rate based upon the following direction:
Section 3679(c) of title 38, U.S. Code.
- DD-214 ensures Veteran status
and
- Enrolled in ETSU
Non-Veteran MAS applying from out of state
Any MAS that will be using G.I. Bill Benefits® and wishes to receive the in-state rate, must provide the following:
Certificate of Eligibility (COE) or G.I. Bill® Certification and documentation that meets the EVEA requirements.
This documentation provides evidence that you may be charged the in-state rate based upon the following direction:
- Enrolled in ETSU
- Utilizing G.I. Bill® Benefits
MAS Retains In-State Rate Upon Exhaustion of Benefits
If G.I Bill® benefits expire prior to graduation, a student will continue to be charged the in-state rate, for the remainder of their tenure at ETSU, as long as he/she:
Maintains continuous enrollment (fall and spring terms) or as dictated by the program/cohort start date. (Graduate Programs).
This follows the guidance provided by Section 3679(c) of title 38, U.S. Code.
